 25th Luncarty (A) Lge 0 - 0

Match Report

We played 2 games against Luncarty this morning, both of which were very keenly contested.
Luncarty 3 Crieff 2
This game was hard fought with good quality on show. The only difference between the teams was the standard of finishing. Luncarty scored with 3 of theirs in the 1st 2 sessions whereas we failed to.
We finally found our scoring touch in the final 15 minutes, scoring twice to get it back to 3-2 & despite piling on the pressure late on we couldn’t find an equaliser.

Luncarty 6 Crieff 8
14 goals in 45 minutes of football was a treat for the on-looking Parents and Coaches.
A great day for Alex Bruce, scoring 6 of the away sides 8 goals. Brilliant from the lad. Lachlan scoring run continued & Arran Cathcart scored his 1st of the season, ending the season on a high.

Starting Lineup:
Kieran Seaton, Cameron Martin, Ryan Carling, Isaac MacGregor, Scott Cramb, James Dale, Alex Bruce, Lachlan McKell, Lochie Dodd, Marc Riddel, Arran Cathcart, Aaron Condie, Paddy Ward, Robbie Brown, Fraser Johnston, Mark Struthers, Ollie Anderson, Kyron McKay

 25th Scone (A) Lge 0 - 0

Match Report

We took a cold & muddy squad out to Scone after playing Luncarty in the pouring rain for the final game of the season.
Scone started better and went a goal up inside 5 minutes. We got into the game more as the half progressed and 2 quick Ryan Carling goals had us ahead at the break.
Ryan completed his hat-trick early in the 2nd half with a great drive from 15 yards.
Scone pulled a goal back to make it 3-2 at the end of the middle 3rd.
In the final 3rd we were well on top but good goalkeeping was kept the score close until Ollie added a 4th just before the end.
On a heavy, muddy pitch & played in occasional rain, the boys showed good battling qualities. We dug in & played most of the match in the Scone half. Had we been more clinical in front of goal the winning margin would have been greater. Ryan takes the MOM award with his first ever Crieff Juniors hat-trick.

 4th Jeanfield (A) Lge 0 - 0

Match Report

The squad visited the Riverside in Perth today for a match against Jeanfield Swifts. We lost the game 6-3 but I’ll remember it for a few reasons. The 3 goals were real beauties. Alex Bruce, Scott and Nic scoring fantastic individual goals. I’d go as far to say Nic’s overall performance was his best by far in a Crieff Juniors shirt. Work rate, determination & skills were all big features in his play.
I’ll also remember for the blatant penalty we didn’t have as the Swifts coaches “didn’t see it!” when Alex B was halved when through on goal. I expressed my displeasure to the home coaches after the game.
The score was 4-3 at that point & within a minute Jeanfield scored to make it 5 when it really should have been 4-4.
However we won’t dwell on it(much). There were more positives today than negatives. The display of the already meantioned Nic, Cameron in the goal & Alex Speed in defence were all very very encouraging.
Fraser does some great things but needs to work on his timing of release of the ball, Isaac is strong in the tackle but needs to work on distribution & Alex B needs to play more with his head up. These can all be worked on though so it’s all promising stuff.

Starting Lineup:
Ben Martin, Cameron Martin, Scott Cramb, Alexander Speed, Isaac MacGregor, Lachlan McKell, Nicholas Tramontanas, Alex Bruce, Arran Cathcart, Kyron McKay, Fraser Johnston

No substitutes named.

Scorers:
Alex Bruce , Scott Cramb , Nicholas Tramontanas

 4th Letham Blacks (A) Lge 0 - 0

Match Report

This morning we visited the very talented Letham Blacks team at Seven Acres in Perth.
These games are usually very keenly fought close games but today we were pretty disappointing and the home side ran out very comfortable 6-0 winners.
We just never got to grips with them today in any aspect of the game. We didn’t defend well, were outfought in midfield & were fairly tepid in front of goal.
So all in all I’ve no complaints with the outcome. The boys were fairly unhappy with the way they played so it’s another learning curve. What is it Thierry Henry says “we either win or we learn.”

Starting Lineup:
Ben Martin, Kieran Seaton, Ryan Carling, Aaron Condie, Paddy Ward, James Dale, Lochie Dodd, Robbie Brown, Lucas Field, Alex Bruce

No substitutes named.

No goals scored.

 20th Scone (A) Lge 0 - 0

Match Report

On a very wet & windy day Crieff travelled to Scone for a league match.
We started well & opened the scoring through an unfortunate own goal.
After that it was more or less the Ollie Anderson show as he bagged 5 of the next 7 goals in an awesome display of finishing.
Paddy & Lochie were also on the scoresheet as the boys ran out convincing winners in the end.

Starting Lineup:
Ryan Carling, Isaac MacGregor, Alex Bruce, Paddy Ward, Lochie Dodd, Robbie Brown, Mark Struthers, Fraser Johnston, Ollie Anderson

 30th Pitfour (H) Lge 0 - 0

Match Report

A strong Pitfour team visited the campus today for what turned out to be a very entertaining game.
Paddy opened the scoring before the visitors equalised however Paddy had the final say of the half when he notched his 2nd from close in.
Pitfour opened strongly in the 2nd period and made it 2-2 but an OG saw up go 1 up again. Back came Pitfour with their 3rd equaliser of the day to end the 2nd period.
In the final period it was Crieff’s turn to boss the game. Chances were spurned & the keeper made some terrific saves before Paddy, completing his hat trick, eventually got the better of the opposing number 1.
Just before full time Robbie added a 5th, from a Paddy cut back, to complete the scoring. The game ended 5-3 to the home team.
Paddy’s 3 goals earned him MOM but his wasn’t the only good performance. Alex S & Fraser were both on their game today which was very good to see.

Starting Lineup:
Ben Martin, Kieran Seaton, Alexander Speed, Scott Cramb, James Dale, Paddy Ward, Robbie Brown, Alex Bruce, Mark Struthers, Fraser Johnston

 30th Luncarty (H) Lge 0 - 0

Match Report

We welcomed Luncarty to the Campus this morning on what was a bright and sunny day.
Crieff came out of the block quickly with Lachlan notching an early double which was soon followed up by 2 from Alex B but Luncarty pulled 1 back just on the break.
In the 2nd period Ryan broke forward from defence to score whilst Lachlan completed his hat-trick. Ryan added a 2nd to his tally before Jimmy fired home from distance.
In the final period Luncarty scored a 2nd but not to be outdone Lachlan added to more to make it 5 from him & 10-2 at the end.
A cracking day for Lachlan with 5 goals. It shows what he is capable of, he just needs to channel his ability & play more to his strengths on the pitch. He gets star man today for that showing.

Ben Martin, Cameron Martin, Isaac MacGregor, Ryan Carling, Lachlan McKell, Arran Cathcart, James Dale, Alex Bruce, Mark Struthers, Kyron McKay

 23rd Sky Blues (A) Lge 0 - 0

Match Report

The Maroons visited Letham Sky Blues on Sunday for what is usually a tough game.
Paddy opened the scoring but the home side equalised not long after.
We then added 2 more before the break through Ollie and then Paddy.
Ollie scored his 2nd then Paddy completed his hat-trick with a fantastic lob over the GK.
Letham scored near the end of the half to make it 5-2.
The final 3rd belonged to Jimmy Dale. He scored a fantastic 5 minute hat-trick then Alex Bruce opened his account for the day to make it 9-2. Letham Sky Blues pulled a goal back before Ollie Anderson completed his hat-trick to make the final score 10-3.
A great day for Paddy, Ollie & Jimmy all scoring hat-tricks. Also the performances of Lucas & Scott were very encouraging in a strong away display.

 23rd Fair City (H) Lge 0 - 0

Match Report

The Sky Blues entertained a much improved Fair City team on Sunday at the Campus Astro.
The game had a fairly even opening in an entertaining game. Fair City took the lead just before half time with a simple ball over the top which we failed to defend. They added a 2nd early in the 2nd period before Paddy, playing his 2nd game of the day, pulled a goal back.
Fair City then added a 3rd as the 2nd period ended.
For almost all of the 3rd period the game was played in the Fair City half. Inspired goalkeeping foiled Crieff time and time again. We were hit with a sucker punch midway through the half when the Perth side broke upfield to add a 4th.
Just before full time Paddy added a 2nd to make the final score 4-2 to Fair City.
Summing Up, we will play worse and win. We lost a couple of really soft goals and if you combine that with poor finishing then you struggle to win games.
Cameron had a few good saves & Fraser’s performance was a vast improvement on last week. Lachlan had 1 fantastic run where he outpaced 2 players before crashing a shot off the bar. That’s the Lachlan we need to see more often. Nick got himself into a lot of good positions, has the skill but needs to be more involved. He was very unlucky not to score. Aaron struggled a bit & wasn’t quite at it with Robbie being likewise.
Mark did a lot of good things but I needed to emphasise to him how important his 1st touch is but that could be said to all the boys.
The 1st touch is the single most important thing in a game of football.

Starting Lineup:
Cameron Martin, Ryan Carling, Aaron Condie, Nicholas Tramontanas, Paddy Ward, Robbie Brown, Lachlan McKell, Mark Struthers, Fraser Johnston, Kyron McKay

No substitutes named.

Scorers:
Paddy Ward , Paddy Ward

 16th Breadalbane (H) Lge 0 - 0

Match Report

The Sky Blues welcomed Breadalbane on Sunday and it proved to be a tough 45 minutes. We’ve tried previously to split the teams up in order to give a decent account of themselves against the opposition but today the teams were split heavily in favour of the Letham Blacks game & it was to the detriment of this game.
We struggled from the start against a decent away side & were soon behind. Things didn’t really improve as the 1st period ended.
We started better in the 2nd period and sub Aaron Condie scored a great header.
Again though Breadalbane would score a few in the half.
By the time the whistle ended at the end of the 3rd period we had lost 10 goals in total & only scored 1.
It was a tough lesson for some but 1 the boys should learn from.
I spoke to them after explaining that I thought some had given up before the game ended. I told the boys that it wasn’t the best to give up as they let themselves, their team, their coach and their parents down.
They train hard and listen at training so why, when it comes to the game, do they forget what teamwork is.
Anyway, we move on.

Starting Lineup:
Kieran Seaton, Cameron Martin, Alexander Speed, Isaac MacGregor, Lachlan McKell, Aaron Condie, Alex Bruce, Arran Cathcart, Fraser Johnston, Mark Struthers, Kyron McKay

No substitutes named.

Scorers:
Aaron Condie

 16th Letham Blacks (H) Lge 0 - 0

Match Report

Crieff Maroons welcomed the very talented Letham Blacks team on Sunday. It was a match where we needed to be at our best to compete.
We started really well and missed some glorious chances, mainly due to excellent goalkeeping. As so often happens, against the run of play, Letham opened the scoring when our defence got caught upfield & the away striker ran through to score.
The 2nd period didn’t start too great with Ryan Carling scoring an own goal. We kept at it though & Ollie Anderson reduced the deficit to 2-1 at the end of the 2nd period.
We started well again in the 3rd period and Alex Bruce, who was causing the Blacks defence problems with his aggressive style of play, shoot home to make it 2-2.
It was end to end for the remaining minutes but the game ended all square.
This was the boys best display of the season so far. We were aggressive, worked hard and passed the ball well. We were the better team and had we converted 1 or 2 of our earlier chances then I’ve no doubt we would have run out winners.
No single star man today as all the boys were excellent.

Starting Lineup:
Ben Martin, Ryan Carling, Alex Bruce, Paddy Ward, Aaron Condie, James Dale, Lucas Field, Robbie Brown, Ollie Anderson

No substitutes named.

Scorers:
Alex Bruce , Ollie Anderson

 9th Jeanfield (A) Lge 0 - 0

Match Report

Crieff travelled to the Riverside and the home of Jeanfield Swifts on a blustery day in Perth.
We were ahead inside a minute when Alex Bruce finished well when clean through.
The Swifts equalised before Bruce notched his 2nd but again the home side struck back to restore parity as the 1st period ended.
We went ahead again through a Paddy Ward double before the Swifts pulled one back to make it 4-3 at the end of the 2nd period.
Alex Bruce completed his hat-trick early in the 3rd period before Paddy did likewise to make it 6-3.
Swifts again came back and cut the deficit to 2 goals.
However Ward & Bruce weren’t finished & both scored their 4th of the game as we ran out 8-4 winners.
Overall we struggled a bit defensively & in midfield against a physical Swifts team.
However with Paddy & Alex in devastating form up top they proved to be the difference with joint Man of the Match displays.
We will all need to be at our best next weekend with 2 very tough games in store.

Starting Lineup:
Kieran Seaton, Ben Martin, Ryan Carling, Paddy Ward, James Dale, Robbie Brown, Alex Bruce, Fraser Johnston, Kyron McKay

No substitutes named.

Scorers:

 2nd Blairgowrie (H) Lge 0 - 0

Match Report

Crieff Juniors v Blairgowrie
Today we welcomed Blairgowrie to the campus Astro.
The emphasis was on pass & move before the game & the boys took that on board and started well. Anderson opened the scoring early & added a 2nd before good wing play from McKell resulted in his cross come shot going in at the back post.
The goal of the day came soon after with Cramb feeding Dale who passed it wide for Tramontanas who squared it for Anderson to complete his hat-trick.
The 2nd period mirrored the 1st with the home side on top. Struthers was next on the scoresheet with a neat finish then Condie got his 1st shortly after. Anderson added to his tally before Blairgowrie pulled 1 back midway through the half.
Dale then shot home from 10 yards as the half came to an end.
That boy Anderson was at it again at the start of the 3rd period noticing his 5th & 6th within a minute. Tramontanas then scored after he worked hard to get to the back post & applied a good finish. Blairgowrie then added a 2nd before Condie got his 2nd of the game. Tramontanas then scored his well deserved 2nd with another back post finish proving that hard work up and down the flank gets its rewards. Anderson finished the scoring by netting his 7th right on the final whistle.
It was a decent all round display from the boys today. They kept, for the most part, doing the right things by keeping the ball moving.
It’s hard to see past Ollie Anderson for player of the day. Not just his goals but his passing was a marked improvement on recent weeks.
A mention must also go to Alex Speed who did everything that was asked of him today. Strong in the tackle & good distribution.

Starting Lineup:
Cameron Martin, Alexander Speed, Scott Cramb, Isaac MacGregor, Lachlan McKell, Aaron Condie, James Dale, Nicholas Tramontanas, Arran Cathcart, Mark Struthers, Ollie Anderson

No substitutes named.

Scorers:

 August 2018
 26th Luncarty (H) Lge 0 - 0

Match Report

Crieff Maroons v Luncarty
The Maroons started the season in disappointing fashion on a cold and wet day in Crieff. It was the slick passing away side who took the game by the scruff of the neck in the 1st period. Scoring 4 times without reply and it could have been more.
Buoyed by a half time “chat” it was more like it in the 2nd period & we quickly pulled it back to 4-3 with a Condie double & a Paddy Ward solo effort. However Luncarty would score again right on the whistle.
The 3rd period saw us gain the upper hand again but we lacked quality in the final 3rd and Luncarty scored again on the break. A 7th away goal near the end finished the game as a contest although there was time for a Jimmy Dale thunderbolt to make it 7-4 at the end.
The slow start undoubtably contributed to the final score but credit to Luncarty as their passing & moving in the 1st third was excellent & we couldn’t get near them.
Unfortunately we had too many having an “off day” & I think the boys knew it.
No star men today & we’ll move swiftly on.

Starting Lineup:
Kieran Seaton, Ryan Carling, Paddy Ward, Arran Cathcart, Aaron Condie, James Dale, Marc Riddel, Fraser Johnston, Ollie Anderson

No substitutes named.

Scorers:
Aaron Condie , James Dale , Paddy Ward , Aaron Condie

 26th Scone (H) Lge 0 - 0

Match Report

Crieff Sky Blues v Scone Thistle
The Sky Blues entertained Scone at the Campus today. It was the home side who struck first when Mark S shot home after good build up play.
Scone came roaring back though and scored twice but Alex B levelled things up at the break.
Scone went ahead again after slack play in defence was punished.
In the final period the home side clicked scoring 4 without reply. First, Lachlan shot home after more good build up play. An OG put the hosts in front then Alex B notched his 2nd of the match to make it 5-3. Right on full time Robbie shot low into the net after a cut back from Alex B.
Coach Struthers was happy with the attitude & workrate of the team today & commented that all the boys played a part in the victory.
Well done boys.

Starting Lineup:
Ben Martin, Alexander Speed, Scott Cramb, Isaac MacGregor, Nicholas Tramontanas, Robbie Brown, Lachlan McKell, Alex Bruce, Mark Struthers, Kyron McKay

No substitutes named.

Scorers:
Alex Bruce , Mark Struthers , Lachlan McKell , Alex Bruce , Robbie Brown , (o.g.)

 June 2018
 24th Pitfour (H) Lge 0 - 0

Match Report

Pitfour came to Crieff for the last game of the season today. It was very warm & after the exertions of yesterday we struggled from the start.
It was no surprise when Pitfour took the lead after slack play at the back. That proved to be the only goal of the 1st period.
We still struggled to find any rhythm into the 2nd 15 but Alex B, who had struggled getting shots off, finally found the net with with a neat finish. Paddy then put us ahead with a drive into the corner of the net.
However Pitfour equalised just before the break when some smart thinking from a quick kick in left their striker in the clear to slide the ball past Ben and into the net.
We came out a lot better in the 3rd period as we reshuffled the pack putting Jimmy Dale into centre mid and Marc R at the back with Robbie. The goal of the game belonged to Jimmy who drove forward, beat 2 players and smashed the ball home to give the home side the lead. Shortly after he got his 2nd with a strong shot from a Aaron cut back.
A short corner by Kyron was squared from Paddy to Robbie who let fly from long range. His shot was saved but Alex pounced on the rebound for his 2nd of the game.
Jimmy completed his hat-trick in the final minute of the game as the home side ran out winners thanks to a blistering last 15 minutes.
So we finished the season with a win. The turning point of the game was Jimmy’s positional change from defence to midfield where he was outstanding. Marc R also had his best game in a Crieff Juniors shirt for quite a while. Strong tackles, good positional sense & good running with the ball when playing wide right.

Starting Lineup:
Ben Martin, Isaac MacGregor, Marc Riddel, Aaron Condie, Paddy Ward, James Dale, Robbie Brown, Alex Bruce, Kyron McKay

No substitutes named.

Scorers:
James Dale , Alex Bruce , James Dale , Paddy Ward , James Dale , Alex Bruce

 24th Fair City (A) Lge 0 - 0

Match Report

The boys welcomed Fair City in the final game of the season on a bright hot sunny day in Crieff.
After yesterday’s BBQ/Presentation it understandably took us a wee while to get going & Fair City took the lead when we failed to clear a ball into the box.
They increased the lead to 2 goals but we pulled one back through great build up play from Ryan & Lochie which led to a fantastic finish by Lachlan who chipped the keeper from 10 yards.
In the 2nd 15 minutes we started strongly and Ryan equalised with a cracking finish.
We were on top then but the Fair City GK made great saves from both Mark & Lochie to keep the scores level.
The boys were then hit with the sucker punch as the Perth team broke upfield to take the lead once again.
The play slowed in the final 15 minutes but the boys kept at it battling hard but couldn’t find a way past some inspired goalkeeping.
In the final few minutes Crieff were dealt a killer blow when the away team finished off a great move by adding a 4th.
Crieff again rallied and a 2nd by Ryan made it 4-3.
With time running out the boys piled forward looking for an equaliser but it was not to be as the final whistle sounded drawing a close to the season.
Ryan was solid at the back today & Lochie dominated the midfield for spells in the game with strong running and great skills. Fraser, after a shaky start, dribbled and weaved his magic & was very unlucky not to get his name on the scoresheet.
So a defeat to end the season but all in all a decent performance. Coach Struthers thought the Fair City man of the match was their goalkeeper so that says it all.

Starting Lineup:
Cameron Martin, Ryan Carling, Alexander Speed, Nicholas Tramontanas, Lochie Dodd, Lachlan McKell, Arran Cathcart, Mark Struthers, Fraser Johnston

No substitutes named.

Scorers:
Ryan Carling , Lachlan McKell , Ryan Carling

 10th Jeanfield (A) Lge 0 - 0

Match Report

The Maroons travelled to the Riverside in Perth to face Jeanfield Swifts.
We started slowly and went behind early in the first period. The Swifts made it 2-0 before Mark S was slipped in by Fraser to pull a goal back as the 1st third came to an end.
Jeanfield went 2 goals ahead again early in the 2nd period but again Mark S struck with a neat finish, slipping the ball past the on-rushing keeper.
The 3rd period started like the previous 2, with a Swifts goal to give them a 2 goal lead again. The boys kept at it though and Fraser scored a beauty cutting in from the right to rifle a left footed shot beyond the keeper.
Now we pressed hard for an equaliser & Mark S had a shot hacked off the line whilst Lachlan nearly got onto the rebound. Robbie & Nick also had chances which were kept out by the home GK.
We were hit with a sucker punch with a minute remaining when the Swifts scored a 5th & made the game safe.

Ben Martin, Cameron Martin, Alexander Speed, Isaac MacGregor, Ryan Carling, Nicholas Tramontanas, Lachlan McKell, Robbie Brown, Fraser Johnston, Mark Struthers

 10th Letham Blacks (H) Lge 0 - 0

Match Report

Today we welcomed Letham Blacks to the Astro for what would be our toughest game of the league season.
We had our strongest available 9 for this game as we knew it’d be hard from the off.
We actually started the game well with Aaron Condie playing as striker as we thought his pace could be an asset.
He duly obliged after 3 minutes with a blistering show of pace and a great finish to put us ahead.
It wasn’t long before Letham were level with a nearly worked move. The away team were seeing more of the ball but we stuck to the task & got blocks in and tracked runners well. Letham did score again though before the break to go in with a 2-1 lead.
The 2nd period was another intense 15 minutes with the game being played at a hectic pace in blistering heat. The Blacks would go on to score 2 more unanswered goals in this half which was fairly merited although they were poor to lose from a Crieff viewpoint as we switched off at both.
We rallied the boys at the break and told them to get the heads up & after the break we created a couple of openings but the ball just wouldn’t fall kindly in front of goal.
Letham Blacks soon regained the upper hand though and scored twice more, the 6th was a fine team goal, as they ran out worthy winners in the end.

Starting Lineup:
Ben Martin, Scott Cramb, Ryan Carling, Alex Bruce, Lochie Dodd, Robbie Brown, James Dale, Aaron Condie, Paddy Ward

 May 2018
 27th Blairgowrie (A) Lge 0 - 0

Match Report

Today’s kick off at Blairgowrie was delayed a little because the coaches couldn’t find the pitch!! It was a boiling hot day and the boys struggled with the heat and the fiery surface
early in the game. Eventually we broke the deadlock with a strike by Alex B from close range. He then added a 2nd with a poachers goal after a penalty box stramash & we went in 2 up at the break.
Play continued around the home goal in the 2nd period & Mark S added a third with a shot into the bottom corner. Lachlan & Nick soon started to get good runs down the flanks & a cross from the former found its way to Alex to shoot home. Alex soon completed his hat-trick with a strong run and finish.
It was mostly 1 way traffic but Isaac was composed at the back when called up. He even drove forward well on occasions, it shows what great progress he’s making due to improved game time.
In the final 15 minutes, Ryan Carling was pushed into midfield and he justified this with some neat passing. He also stroked home a goal from a Nick cut back.
Nick turned from supplier to scorer soon after with a well taken goal after a strong run down the left.
Alex B added to his haul by scoring a 4th late on.
Summing up, the boys started slowly but got better as the game went on. Cameron in goal was a virtual spectator for most of the game but did well when asked. Isaac was steady at the back. Lachlan, Nick & Arran put a shift in out wide but star man must go to 4 goal Alex Bruce. Alex is the newest team member, wants to play every position & always asks “can I play here/there” as soon as he’s substituted!!! He’ll do well though for Crieff Juniors, when we find him his best position.

Starting Lineup:
Cameron Martin, Ryan Carling, Isaac MacGregor, Nicholas Tramontanas, Arran Cathcart, Robbie Brown, Lachlan McKell, Alex Bruce, Mark Struthers

No substitutes named.

 27th Scone (A) Lge 0 - 0

Match Report

We visited Scone Thistle today on a very warm & humid day.
We started with a bang when Aaron C slammed home a shot from close range within a minute of the start.
The boys then huffed and puffed in the heat on a grass surface that was longer than deep rough on a golf course!! They had obviously heard about Crieff’s slick passing.
Scone Thistle then equalised just on the whistle for the end of the first third.
The boys chose to go more direct, under the instruction of coach Struthers, and it paid off. Alex B raced clear to slot home then Jimmy powered his way passed a couple of defenders to shoot home for a 3rd.
It wasn’t all 1 way traffic though but the home team found Scott Cramb a formidable barrier to break.
Lochie then added a 4th & Aaron scored his 2nd as the away side were rampant with their new “long ball” game.
The final 15 minutes was played at a slower pace with the heat taking its toll & the “jungle like” pitch sapping the boys energy.
An Alex Bruce strike, his 2nd, was the only counter of the final 15.
Summing up, a very competent performance from the boys today who adapted really well to the surface. Lochie did well today showing bundles of energy, Condie was marauding up and down the wing, Jimmy was strong as ever but the star man had to be Scott Cramb. The wee man has had a stop/start season so far but he was back to him imperious “they shall not pass” best today.

Starting Lineup:
Ben Martin, Scott Cramb, Ryan Carling, Aaron Condie, James Dale, Lochie Dodd, Alex Bruce, Mark Struthers, Fraser Johnston

No substitutes named.

Scorers:
Alex Bruce , Aaron Condie , Lochie Dodd , Aaron Condie , James Dale , Alex Bruce

 20th Luncarty (A) Lge 0 - 0

Match Report

The Sky Blues entertained Luncarty this morning at the Campus Astro. We were a little slow out of the blocks & Luncarty raced into a 3 goal lead. We hit back although the woodwork came to Luncarty’s rescue 3 times in an entertaining opening 15 minutes.
The boys eventually found their shooting boots in the middle 15 minutes. Lochie scored twice, Lachlan and Marc R also found the net although we didn’t have it all our own way as Luncarty scored twice.
The final 15 minutes was another open entertaining period. Lachlan got his 2nd of the game and debut boy Kyron opened his Crieff Juniors account with a goal which slipped under the GK.
It was a fantastic 45 minutes of football with some cracking goals. The boys can take great heart in their attacking play although lessons must be learnt when defending.

Starting Lineup:
Cameron Martin, Alexander Speed, Lachlan McKell, Arran Cathcart, Marc Riddel, Lochie Dodd, Fraser Johnston, Mark Struthers, Kyron McKay

No substitutes named.

 20th Pitfour (H) Lge 0 - 0

Match Report

Today we welcomed Pitfour to the Campus Astroturf. We were a wee bit depleted due to unavailability of players but the 8 who played got lots of game time.
We took a while to get going and play was scrappy early doors. It was a tight first 15 minutes with the only goal coming from a tidy Paddy finish.
We improved a bit in the 2nd 15 minutes but still lacked fluency & the work rate wasn’t quite there. Paddy got his 2nd of the game closely followed by a goal from Robbie.
In the final 15 minutes we found a bit more rhythm, workrate & the passing was better. Alex Bruce scored a well taken goal & Paddy completed his hat-trick with 3 minutes to go. Just before the final whistle, Aaron got a goal which was a good reward for his running & commitment in the last 1/3 of the game.
A clean sheet for big Ben in goal, Ryan & Isaac looked assured at the back & Paddy was a handful again in attack.

Starting Lineup:
Ben Martin, Ryan Carling, Isaac MacGregor, Paddy Ward, Aaron Condie, Robbie Brown, Nicholas Tramontanas, Alex Bruce

No substitutes named.

Scorers:
Paddy Ward , Alex Bruce , Paddy Ward , Aaron Condie , Robbie Brown , Paddy Ward

 13th Sky Blues (A) Lge 0 - 0

Match Report

Letham Sky Blues v Crieff Juniors
We travelled to Seven Acres for what is always a close game against Letham Sky Blues.
The boys flew out of the traps this morning with debut boy Lucas scoring within a minute. We kept up the good play and Paddy & an own goal added to the early strike. Ollie scored another & just before the break Paddy scored his 2nd. A great 15 minutes of football from the lads.
The 2nd 15 saw Letham with the upper hand & Big Ben was finally beaten midway through the half in which we failed to hit the net.
The final 15 minutes saw the boys pick up the pace again. Defenders Scott & Ryan broke from the back to notch a goal a piece. Ollie got his 2nd before Paddy completed his hat-trick late on.
30 minutes of great play from the lads with the middle 15 lacking in a cutting edge but good effort none the less.
Star men today was debutant Lucas & Isaac at the back. Isaac is coming on great, his tackling has always been good but I was especially pleased with his distribution today.

Starting Lineup:
Ben Martin, Isaac MacGregor, Scott Cramb, Ryan Carling, Robbie Brown, Arran Cathcart, Paddy Ward, James Dale, Lucas Field, Ollie Anderson

No substitutes named.

 13th Fair City (A) Lge 0 - 0

Match Report

Fair City v Crieff Juniors
Crieff visited Huntingtower in the 2nd game of the day.
We took a bit of time to get going & it was no surprise when Fair City took the lead with a well taken goal. We then settled down and started to play & Robbie equalised with a curling shot into the corner.
Lachlan, who was putting in a great amount of work, then scored at the back post. Paddy added a third minutes later and then Fair City replied with a goal of there own.
The 2nd 15 saw the 2 teams share a goal a piece with the work rate of both teams very high on a wet grass pitch.
Onto the final 3rd and Paddy scored early doors but Fair City replied soon after.
It was end to end stuff now and Crieff scored again when Robbie struck at the back post after a shot from Alex.
Paddy completed his hat-trick right at the death.
A good showing from the boys today. Paddy stood out again but the most impressive displays today were from Lachlan & Fraser. The former worked up & down all game and was rewarded with a goal. The latter played at the back all game & barely put a foot wrong. He was cool on the ball & his distribution was fantastic.

Starting Lineup:
Ben Martin, Nicholas Tramontanas, James Dale, Paddy Ward, Lachlan McKell, Robbie Brown, Marc Riddel, Alex Bruce, Fraser Johnston

No substitutes named.

Scorers:
Robbie Brown , Paddy Ward , Paddy Ward , Lachlan McKell , Robbie Brown , Paddy Ward

 29th Jeanfield (H) Lge 0 - 0

Match Report

Crieff 2008 Match Report
Today we entertained Jeanfield Swifts at the Campus. We came flying out of the traps for a change and had the Swifts immediately on the back foot with Condie & Ward scoring early. Jeanfield came into the game after the shaky start and tested big Ben(who turned up late) in the home goal. Ward was again on target as the first third drew to a close.
Swifts started the 2nd third sharper & scored a couple of really well taken goals to bring them back into things. The teams then notched another each before the 2nd third drew to a close. It was a 15 minutes which the Swifts edged.
The final 15 saw Crieff reassert themselves & Ward was tormentor in chief. Struthers also bagged a double and Jimmy Dale struck his first of the game late on.
A good overall performance from the lads against a strong much improved Swifts. Paddy Ward was the main difference today between the teams, a Man of the Match display.
